World Of Warships Launches U.S. And German Submarines Into Early Access, Debuts Halloween Operations And Tweaks
A brand-new playable underwater ship class excellent against others until detected.
World of Warships, the free-to-play naval military game by Wargaming, has shipped its "Update 0.11.9" content update that introduces a brand-new playable underwater ship class: Submarines. Alongside its debut are Halloween-themed Operations for the spooky season and in-game tweaks toward Commanders and cross-server matching.
Now available in early access, players can try out the newly-implemented U.S. and German submarines from Tier VI and VIII in the Armory. The ships have an arsenal of torpedoes as their primary weapons and are effective against all ship classes. Following its historical roots as a stealth vessel, once submarines become detected, they will be incredibly vulnerable to counteract their advantage against other classes. Fans can get familiar with the ships in the new "Wolf Pack" Operation, which sends their submarines below the surface to navigate around outposts to destroy convoy transports.
While testing the new ship class, players can enjoy the "Saving Transylvania" and "Sunray in the Darkness" Operations leading up to Halloween. In addition, the "Twilight Battle" is now available - a rather unexpected re-appearance since its introduction in 2018. "Sunray in the Darkness" will come two weeks after this update, pitting two teams of seven players against each other as they navigate a small safe zone, avoiding the "Filth" that gradually swallows the map.
Several Commander talents, skills, and upgrades have seen improvements in this patch. According to the devs, the changes provide "a better overall balance and offer greater flexibility." Moreover, the interface for viewing skills now allows players to view Commanders from all nations regardless if they have a ship from the same country in the Reserve. Lastly, Wargaming will be testing players across NA, EU, and APAC servers to optimize their cross-server matchmaking technology between several tiers, modes, and battle types in the future.
