World Of Warcraft TOS Update Bans Boosting Communities...Kind Of
The change specifically targets Boosting Communities advertising their services, not you helping a guildmate.
Note: Activision Blizzard is still under investigation by the state of California for serious harassment charges. CEO Bobby Kotick is alleged to have known about such actions within his company – and performed some himself – and shielded the perpetrators from consequences.
There's a new change to the World of Warcraft terms of service that is going to change the game quite a bit for certain "communities." The communities in question are those that sell (and advertise) "boosting, matchmaking, escrow, or other non-traditional services, including those offered for gold."
Continuing to perform these services, particularly those that span across realms and excessively advertise, can net the accounts used "warnings, account suspensions and, if necessary, permanent closure of the disruptive World of Warcraft account(s)."
This do NOT impact you and your guild helping each other, or prohibit you from "using the provided in-game tools (“trade channel” chat) to buy or sell in-game items or activities for in-game currency."
So far, the news of the change is being meant with some mixed reactions in a rather lengthy forum post that does bring up the question of enforcement. We'll have to wait a bit to see if and when more well know boosting communities get the boot, but until then, maybe keep any advertising you do to a minimum.
