World of Warcraft’s Next Expansion Possibly Leaked Ahead Of This Month's Official Reveal
Warning, spoilers ahead.
When a company’s newest expansion is datamined and spread before an official statement has been made, it can feel uncomfortable for some. However, when the company inadvertently releases the data themselves, well, that's a different story entirely. Despite an announcement regarding the next World of Warcraft expansion already scheduled for April 19th, it looks as if Blizzard may have accidentally leaked WoW’s newest title and theme a few weeks early.
A Wowhead report suggests that the website’s public source code shows strings for the Dragonflight Base, Heroic and Epic Expansion pre-purchases. The code also includes a URL, dragonflight.blizzard.com, that is expected to be the new expansion’s launch domain. Don’t bother trying to access the site just yet though, as the URL remains inaccessible.
Note: Activision Blizzard is still under investigation by the state of California for serious harassment charges. CEO Bobby Kotick is alleged to have known about such actions within his company – and performed some himself – and shielded the perpetrators from consequences.
While nothing is confirmed, looking at other previously datamined items, there is said to be additional items, pets, and mounts relating to dragons. There is even a hint at a Green or Emerald Dragon mount.
This dragon heavy expansion would be exciting news considering that since the fall of Deathwing, the dragons have lost their ability to reproduce and have become scarce in Azeroth.
Sadly, we won’t know anything official about Dragonflight before World of Warcraft’s official announcement on April 19th.
