Activision Blizzard Is Hunting For A Narrative Director To Manage The "Overall Warcraft Franchise"
That includes Arclight Rumble, novels, and supplementary books.
Activision Blizzard is now on the hunt for a new Narrative Director for World of Warcraft, slated to help manage the "tools, processes, manpower, and budget that the designers use."
The position is beyond the scope of just the MMORPG World of Warcraft; however. It will focus on contributing to the "overall Warcraft franchise" that means side projects like Arclight Rumble, background novels, and supplementary books such as the upcoming "Exploring Northrend." Also, it wouldn't supersede the Principle Narrative Designer, Steve Danuser, even though it would normally. As Activision Blizzard puts it, the head of the Narrative Director's responsibility is management and becoming the bridge between "multiple departments rather than one specific area."
Outside of just sending a resume and cover letter to try your luck, aspiring applicants will need to be well-versed in game narrative design roles with multiple years of experience. Additionally, applicants must have proven leadership qualities, the capability to keep track of both "short-term and long-term narrative priorities," and have an "expansive knowledge of Warcraft franchise lore" and its content and gameplay. As a bonus, knowing diverse narratives and themes in contemporary media worldwide is a plus, alongside having a wealth of empathy and wisdom to direct and absorb feedback when on the floor.
