World Of Tanks Will Get New Seasonal Competitive Game Mode With Unique Gameplay Mechanics And Rewards Tomorrow
"The mode provides the optimal environment for tankers to compete on an equal playing field."
Wargaming is rolling out a new competitive game mode called "Onslaught" for World of Tanks tomorrow as part of the "Season of Griffin" launch that lasts until November 21. Onslaught is a 7x7 format that restricts players to Tier X vehicles to even the "playing field," and features new gameplay mechanics and two lines of unique rewards.
At 9:00 a.m. Eastern Time, fans can jump into the Onslaught mode during the limited-time Season of Griffin. According to the devs, all changes for Onslaught will further enhance its "competitiveness," matching both allies and opponents for teams based on the mode's ranked system. During its routine countdown before battle, players can choose different Tier X vehicles in the lobby or swap out equipment, shells, and consumables.
No matter which vehicle players choose, they all will feature combat roles designed with a unique role skill with three charge levels that players can "use to strategize and upgrade during the battle." Additionally, Onslaught will have two-player squads instead of three-player platoons and offers ways to create a team of seven commanders.
A new gameplay mechanic introduced into the mode is the iconic "Fog of War," aiming to make battles unpredictable by shrouding enemy forces until they're spotted. Teams will not know anything about enemy locations, vehicle types, and models at the start of the battle. Alongside this comes two lines of rewards. One line has progressive 2D styles, dog tag elements, and more based on player rank. The other gives traditional, yet valuable, items such as bonds and pieces of equipment, depending on the number of victories players earn.
