Wizards Has Plenty Of Arena Events Planned For Magic: The Gathering's "Summer Of Legend"
Wizards of the Coast is declaring the Summer of Legend, calling its Magic: The Gathering initiatives over the next few months "Epic. Grandiose. Multidimensional." Hyperbole aside, there is a lot going on, and we're here to detail all of the cool stuff that's arriving in Arena over the next few months.
If you're looking for competition, the May Arena Open starts this Saturday, May 8, with prizes including cash payouts of $1,000 or $2,000 if you do well enough. The Strixhaven College Cup offers three events, on May 13, 20, and 27, testing your deckbuilding skills in a variety of formats. Players can choose a college to represent, and the winning college will have a sleeve featuring its emblem that all Arena players will be able to claim. You can also partake of the Strixhaven Historical Brawl event going on from the 8th to the 14th.
Historic Anthology V releases on May 27 and adds 25 new cards to the game, "including some that are completely legendary." On June 4, Jumpstart returns to Arena until early July, and the next open event kicks off July 31.
Finally, there's the Mirror, Mirror event coming in July, which features matches set in an "other universe of decks featuring rebalanced versions of some of Historic's iconic banned cards." CCG players, wanting balanced cards? That would be a new one to me.
