No Whammies: Stormthrone Minigames Offers Item Prize for Upcoming Alpha
R2 Games has set up an interesting incentive to be checking out the site for their upcoming game, Stormthrone: Aeos Rising, daily. Between now and the start of Stromthrone's Alpha, players can stop by the official site and take part in various minigames related to the title for a chance to win Alpha bonuses and items.
Each day you check into the site you'll earn 10 points. Points can be used to play one of two minigames (only one is available as of the time of this writing, the second will be available in about a week.)
Stormthrone Spins is a "slot machine" type minigame that is really just based on luck. Click "Spin" and hope you land on one of the images that pays out tons of points. (No Whammies, No Whammies, No Whammies, STOP!) Stormthrone Sweets will be released soon and looks like it may involve a bit more skill a la Candy Crush, we'll have to wait and see.
What can you do with the points? Well, on November 18th, 2014, the "Exchange Points" function will open up allowing players to redeem points for various items in the actual Stormthrone Alpha. We also go a sneak peek into Stormthrone's gameplay in the above trailer and it's worth noting that the title looks to have a more active combat system than most browser based titles out there.
All in all, sure it may be a touch cheesy, but I like this build up. It's a nice way to get fans coming back to your site everyday while also giving them an incentive for doing it. If you're interested in Stormthrone it's certainly worth a few minutes each day to take a chance at some extra Alpha goodies. I'm already at zero points for today though...yes...I hit a Whammie.
