Webzen shutting down Arctic Combat
Yet another modern military shooter has fallen by the wayside. Webzen originally had high hopes for their first FPS, Arctic Combat, when it was released last December. The game featured fast-paced gameplay with a more realistic portrayal of gore. Unfortunately the game began shutting down last week with the Item Shop, Download Page, and Inquiry Service already taken offline. Players who still have it installed on their PCs will be allowed to play until September 2nd.
As to why Webzen decided to shut down the FPS, speculation on the forums points towards a lack of anti-hacking enforcement from Webzen which caused a noticeable decline in community numbers.
To say thanks as well as goodbye, Arctic Combat players will be compensated with special AC Veteran packs. What pack you receive will depend on which one of three gaming portals, Webzen.com, gPotato.eu, or gPotato.com. Once you choose, you will receive your compensation based on the currency value of the chosen Portal.
For more reimbursement details you can check out the official post here. For a while, Arctic Combat seemed to have quite the competitive scene, at least in the West. Were you a fan of AC?

And you know what? In my months of playing, I cannot say I have encountered (or at least, noticed) ANY hackers.
Again!!!! I would like to thank the hacking community for making sure we are hostage to the same old fps games.
Every new game that comes out, will have the same fate if not attended by an anti-hack system. but it needs to be a good one (yet to be found).
I almost forgot, an special thanks to the brazilian community, they are one of the greatest users of hacking systems. Im Brazilian, dont get me wrong, i KNOW what im talking about. Every game released here is a pain in the ass to play, due to the huge amount of retards and their hacks.
Yay you did again guys, Good Job.
But I also expect little numbers of players, just yet didn't expect a shutdown so soon.
It took too long to launch the game, the game trailer was very cool when they announced it.
But when it actually came out, it has nothing unique.
The graphic engine was Unreal 2.5 and is really out-dated.
Hackers prevail the channel in the 2nd week of open-beta.
It's a good F2P FPS afterall. But I won't be missing it too much because many good ones are still available.

I also wasn't happy with the way weapons were unbalanced. Ak47 was super overpowered, there were like 1-2 more good weapons and everything else was inferior. The game was an Ak47 fest, everyone was using it, and you were kinda forced to use it too from time to time because it was just way too strong and if you didn't you'd be in significant disadvantage. And Webzen didn't want to make proper balance in weapons even though people made tons of forum threads and posts about it.
They did a LOT of mistakes. I'm really not surprised that the game is shutting down.
