We've Got Your Game Awards Nominees For Multiplayer Games!
Valorant, Genshin Impact, New World, Apex Legends, FFXIV score nominations.
The Game Awards have announced their nominees for this year's top honors, for everything from Game of the Year to Best Art Direction to Content Creator of the Year. (Should I feel bad that I've never heard of any of the people in that last category?)
Here at MMOBomb, we've highlighted the four categories with a focus on multiplayer action: Best Esports Game, Best Esports Athlete, Best Ongoing Game, and, naturally, Best Multiplayer Game.
The nominees are:
- Call of Duty
- Counter-Strike: Global Offensive
- Dota 2
- League of Legends
- Valorant
- Chris "Simp" Lehr
- Heo "Showmaker" Su
- Magomed "Collapse" Khalilov
- Oleksandr "Simple" Kostyliev
- Tyson "Tenz" Ngo
- Apex Legends
- Final Fantasy XIV
- Fortnite
- Genshin Impact
- Call of Duty: Warzone
- Back 4 Blood
- Knockout City
- It Takes Two
- Monster Hunter Rise
- New World
- Valheim
It's interesting to note that, even in the other categories, there's practically nothing in terms of games that have multiplayer at their core, like shooters or MMORPGs. The Best Mobile Game category includes a few multiplayer titles, like Pokémon Unite and League of Legends: Wild Rift, and It Takes Two scored a few other noms, but that's about it.
Overwatch is completely absent, and Overwatch 2 isnt mentioned in the "Most Anticipated" category. In fact, there don't appear to be any Blizzard games among the nominations. That's probably due more to the company's lack of quality releases as of late than the other issues swirling around the company or its parent, Activision, which did land a few noms for the Call of Duty franchise.
The Game Awards will take place on December 9. You can vote for your favorite game(s) on the Awards' website.
