Wayfinder May Do A "Supporter Pack", But Won't Be Charging For DLC, Team Happy With Direction According To AMA
The supporter pack, if it even happens, would just be a purely cosmetic way to throw support at the studio.
The Echoes update in Wayfinder has been pretty well received so far. Recent Steam reviews since the launch have landed in the "Mostly Positive" category. Dropping the trappings of a live service game, the dungeon-diving game seems to be on a much better track as a one-time purchase title.
Is it all looking better behind the scenes, though?
Let's check in with this week's reddit AMA held by the team. The number one question is probably "how are sales?" This is a game that either made this conversion or went away, so are the dollars rolling in? In short, not like crazy, but the team does like the trend. "So we're confident though that with the sales we have seen, and the momentum that continues and grows each day. We're confident we're on the right path for release later in the year which will be a big moment," according to the team, but the biggest hurdle is getting the word out and the team would love your help with that. If you're happy with Wayfinder's new direction, tell a friend. Expect more advertising from the team as 1.0 approaches.
As for content, there won't be any more Rewards Towers as this was Wayfinder's take on battle passes and those don't make sense in a non-live service game. Future content, like the upcoming new "Crucible" area, will not be locked behind purchases as the devs don't want to segregate their player base. That means that there is no future monetization planned, either.
To help support the game, the team is considering some type of "Support's Pack" that just contains some cosmetics as a way of supporting the game, but details are sparce on that right now. It's just an idea.
In a few other notable replies, the team confirmed that the previously teased raid is on ice for now as Echoes and launch became the focus. Wayfinder has also seen a change in their narrative approach since going one-time purchase. Expect more character driven stories as launch nears. A new character is coming in 1.0, too, but no new archetypes are planned right now and the level cap of 30 isn't changing soon either.
Hell, mods are even on the table as a future enhancement. Check out the full AMA for the full scoop.
