Warner Bros. Not Happy About Suicide Squad: Kill The Justice League's Sales Numbers
And yet the game's reviews on Steam are “Mostly Positive”!?
Nobody is surprised that Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League wasn’t a hit…except for Warner Bros.
The company expressed disappointment with the performance of Rocksteady’s game during a financial call. They said it fell short of expectations following a series of delays. Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League was even compared to Hogwarts Legacy, which — on the flipside — was incredibly successful.
“We are lapping the release of Hogwarts Legacy in February last year, which saw the largest portion of its very positive financial impact in the first quarter,” CFO Gunnar Wiedenfels said. “This year, Suicide Squad, one of our key video game releases in 2024, has fallen short of our expectations since its release earlier in the quarter, setting our games business up for a tough year-over-year comp in Q1.”
At the moment, the game actually has a “Mostly Positive” rating on Steam following over 4,000 reviews. Metacritic scores are 60 for consoles, 63 for PC. Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League was plagued by issues and bugs on top of the game's incorporation of live service elements that drew backlash from many players.
We don’t know how many copies were sold at this time, as that number was not revealed during the financial call.
