Wargaming Taps ISS Astronauts To Announce Tomorrow's World Of Tanks Freebies
Tomorrow, April 12, is the International Day of Human Space Flight, which commemorates the first space flight by a human, cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin, on April 12, 1961. So it's maybe not all that surprising that Wargaming, which is based out the former Soviet republic of Belarus, is commemorating the day with a special bonus in World of Tanks -- announced by some real-life space travelers.
Starting at 4:20 a.m. PDT on April 12 and running for a full 24 hours, you can log into World of Tanks and receive four boosters by playing a single battle. The boosters each last for an hour and give +100% Combat XP, +300% Crew XP, +300% Free XP, and +50% Credits. There's no rush, as you can still use them after the event ends.
To announce the event, Wargaming's got some friends in high places -- very high, as it turns out. Two Russian members of the International Space Station, decked out in World of Tanks T-shirts, recorded a brief greeting to promote the event. I don't even want to think about the kind of ping they must have up there.
