Wargaming Donates $1 Million To Ukrainian Red Cross, Offers To Aid Employees Of Its Ukrainian Studio
Persha Studio works primarily on World of Warplanes and web content.
Wargaming has intricate ties to what's going on in Eastern Europe right now. The World of Tanks creator's headquarters is in Belarus, which is one of the few nations siding with Russia in its conflict with Ukraine, but the company also has a branch in the country, Persha Studio.
Today Wargaming announced that it is donating $1 million to the Ukranian Red Cross, "to support Ukrainian hospitals and doctors, those citizens who have been displaced and other vital activities of the humanitarian organization as is needed," while pledging to "proceed with further humanitarian help if the situation requires."
With regards to efforts it's undertaking to help its own employees, Wargaming had this to say:
At Wargaming, the safety and security of our employees is the top priority. Currently, all available company resources are helping and supporting our 550+ colleagues: providing them with alternate housing, early salary payments, additional funds to aid travel and relocation.
We are helping our employees’ families to travel to neighbouring countries and organizing accommodation for them.
Even as someone who's played a lot of Wargaming's titles, I wasn't familiar with Persha, but this post on the World of Warplanes blog should help shed some light on the work its employees do. There's no date for the post, but it states that the team "recently" moved into a four-story office building in Kyiv, where it works on Warplanes, the World of Tanks Generals card game, art (over 500 combined ships and tanks), social media, and web content: "This is the team responsible for the infrastructure that allows players to get to know our game community and to take part in contests and social events."
Also, it has a fish called "Manager Bob." Here's hoping everyone at Persha, Bob included, remains safe during the current crisis.
