Warframe Dev Diary Details Loki and Mag
The folks over at Digital Extremes are hard at work developing Warframe but the studio stopped just long enough to deliver us a Dev diary chock full of gameplay.
The video gives us our first look at two previously unheard of Warframes, Loki and Mag. The video reveals some interesting details concerning the Warframes with mentions of "4 powers" available to Loki. Presumably this means there are 4 powers available to each of the final eight Warframes. Loki himself is a master trickster with abilities such as invisibility, decoy and an interesting ability called switch-teleport which teleports you to an enemy's position and teleports said enemy to your previous position.
On the flip side the Warframe called Mag seemingly augments the environment with his abilities. Mag can pull enemies towards him making it easy to pull foes through environmental hazards such as fire and something called "space pits". Additionally, Mag can use his ability Magnetize to place a bubble on a foe or on the ground which reflects projectiles back at the attacker. Having the ability to place the bubble on a foe makes for an interesting sight as enemies fire endlessly into themselves before abruptly exploding into metal giblets. Finally there is talk of Mag's "ultimate" ability called Crush. In the video the developer describes Crush as the ability to levitate the enemies in the air and fold them into little balls. The AOE based ability is amusing to watch in action as all enemies within a radius around Mag are simultaneously levitated, crushed, and then collapse in sync. Epic.
You can singup for the co-op sci-fi third person shooter's closed beta here. Warframe is looking to quickly become one the must play F2P games of 2012. What are your thoughts on the game so far?
