Warface Sneaks Onto Nintendo Switch
Well, this was certainly unexpected, but as of today, FPS fans can now play My.com's Warface on Nintendo Switch. The shooter is the first game using the CryEngine to launch on the console, however, the engine needed to be customized in order to do it. The framerate has been locked at 30fps/720p for television-based play and 540p when playing on the handheld. The developers felt this was the best move since the game is competitive and they wanted to ensure it works properly.
For those wondering, Switch's version of Warface does not support cross-play at launch. That said, My.games told Gamesindustry that it is in the works in some capacity. In the meantime, the company plans to launch the next big update on all consoles at the same time, so Switch players won't be left lagging behind.
