Vigor's Season 8: Trappers Kicks Off, Offering A "Calmer And Sneakier Playstyle"
Vigor's Season 8 is here, and it's called Trappers. That means you'll be organizing your schoolwork in colorful folders with pockets -- oh, wait, I don't think they mean those kinds of Trappers. Regardless, we'll bet that this season is a keeper.
The season introduces a new theme, that of the Trappers, who "live in harmony with nature" and "know their land like the palm of their hand" but "don't hesitate to slaughter anyone who trespasses" -- which sounds like anyone who's played a battle royale game long enough. As such, this season will promote "a calmer and sneakier playstyle," with less flash and more fine-tuning on the way.
The Anti-Camping Mortar Strike has been removed, as it was "was influencing gameplay in a way we didn't intend." A notable addition is the return of multiple Loot Events, two at a time, which should "bring a bit more happiness back to the Outlands." Only one new gun is being added this season, the PH M82, and Bohemia Interactive is seeking ways to make the game's current guns feel more unique and individual.
To emulate the Hunter style, you can pick up a Hunter Pack for $69.99 that includes a Hunter Uniform and 2,855 Crowns. Or, if you're the more timid sort, you can pick up the Prey Pack for $19.99, which includes bunny- and wolf-themed cosmetic items.
Season 8 also brings a new "hidden feature" called Legacy Seasons, with Bohemia encouraging players to "get out there and investigate, then share your theories on social media." Looking ahead, Season 8 will be longer than usual so that the developers can deal with various challenges in the game's long-term design, which they'll delve more into in a future blog post. For now, you can learn everything you need to know about the current season on the Vigor site.
