Vampires Will Soon Wield Claws, Throwing Knives, Or A Darth Maul-like Double Blade In V Rising
You'll also be able to coat your weapons to gain additional effects in patch 1.1.
Ever since V Rising came out last year (technically before that in early access, if I'm being honest), players wanted more weapon options. Vampires need the ability to use claws, after all. Stunlock Studios has announced that the vampire survival game will receive 3 new weapon types in patch 1.1. We don't yet have a release date for said patch, though.
First up, yes, we're getting claws. They are very Vega-like for you Street Fighter fans. The triple blades cause a "Puncture" status to be applied to your target when certain abilities are used. You can cause your foe to rupture for additional damage based on how many Puncture stacks you build up.
Looking for something a bit more flowing? How about a double-bladed "Twinblade" like the lightsaber Darth Maul used? Ok, that's coming as well. Combat almost looks like a dance as you twirl the blade and even launch it at your enemy.
Finally, we have throwing knives on their way. These blades are mainly used at range with abilities focused on tossing blades from a distance, jumping up in the air and raining daggers from above, and other "tossing" skills.
Each of these weapon types will receive its own artifact weapon variant with additional effects. Speaking of additional effects, patch 1.1 will introduce a new "weapon coating" system. Most MMO players will likely get the idea here. Use consumable potions to coat your weapons and get additional effects. For example, the Storm Coating will add 50% bonus magic damage and trigger Chain Lightning.
The full blog post has multiple examples of stats, effects, and artifact examples for those looking to...sink their teeth in a bit deeper. (I'm probably more proud of that closing that I should be.)
