Valve Produced Free-to-Play Documentary to be released on March 19th
It's happening, Free-to-Play is making the jump from the computer screen and onto the silver one. Valve has revealed the official release date for a new documentary the studio has been producing which follows three professional gamers as they compete for a million dollar prize in the first Dota 2 International Tournament. Set to be released on March 19th, the documentary simply titled "Free to Play" will be available to download for free through Steam.
Admittedly, although the documentary features the title "Free to Play", the premise seems less about Free-to-Play and more about E-sports with a specific focus on Dota 2. The film's description states it "documents the challenges and sacrifices required of players to compete at the highest level". Still, the opportunity to view a feature length film about gaming, by none other than Valve for free, is a hard thing to criticize.
The film will have its official premier held on March 18th in San Francisco followed by a live Q&A with the creators and "special guests", which the general public can purchase tickets to. For the general majority of us who won't be attending, Valve will be offering the Free to Play Competitor's Pack for sale with 25% of the sales being distributed to the featured players and contributors.
The pack will include the following items:
*Fear's Sven Set
*hyhy's Doom Set
*Dendi’s Pudge Set
*Free to Play Wards
*Free to Play HUD
*Free to Play Courier /strong>
More information regarding the film can be found on the official site freetoplaythemovie.com.
