V Rising’s Spell Progression Getting More Flexible And Moving Your Castle Will Get Easier, Just Maybe Not By 1.0
Just because there’s a preferred way to do things doesn’t mean you have to do it that way.
Today, Stunlock Studios posted its 25th dev update blog for V Rising. This time they’ve decided to give players a rundown on the game’s spellcraft system and the changes they’re making. As one might expect from the game, the developer did design the spell system with a certain order of progression in mind. If players just play the game and explore as they normally would, it’s an almost certainty that players will kill bosses and obtain spells in the intended order.
However, the devs also understand that players might want to deviate and go after higher-level spells before they’ve obtained the ones that would lead them there – particularly if players are doing multiple playthroughs. With this in mind, Stunlock has provided players with the ability to break out on their own and hunt down the bosses that have the spells they desire without the need to kill the easier bosses first.
That said, on the first playthrough, it is probably advised to do it in order. The spell progression system is intended to help players learn the intricacies of the system. The idea is to provide flexibility while preventing new players from being overwhelmed.
In addition, the devs are adding a new station called the Altar of Stygian Awakening. Players can use this altar to add bonuses to their spells that modify gameplay. Players will need to gather materials from the new endgame zone to make use of the altar and pool them together with clan mates – resulting in clan-wide progression.
The post also addresses another upcoming feature that will help players with a more mundane task: moving. Players have complained about this a bit and the devs are now working on a feature that should make things easier. The idea is for players to place a structure that functions as a castle heart and connect it to a real castle heart that they already own. This will open up a new version of the build menu that grants them access to all the items placed in the original castle and allows players to build a new one using those items.
