Let's knock the quick hit of news out of the way first. F2P looter-shooter The First Descendant releases next week on July 2nd. We've already dropped videos looking at a few of the Descendants you can choose from at launch, but now we've got the download times.

If you plan to hop in right at launch (3 AM EST), you may want to download the game ahead of time. You can start at 3 AM EST on June 30th. The download will be available all the way up to launch, so you don't have to worry about any "downtime" on that install.

Check out the recommended system requirements to make sure you're set:

Now on to some more interesting news. Nexon has dropped a new video taking you through how various systems in the game intersect when it comes to your build. While beta tests had 11 Descendants and 2 Ultimate Descendants, more will be available at launch. Ultimate weapons are also basically doubling in quantity for launch compared to beta.

Picking a Descendant isn't the "end" of your ideal build. A lot goes into making your character the ultimate Vulgus hunter. Ultimate weapons play a huge part here. Getting a weapon you love that ties in well with your Descendant (maybe even enhancing your specific Descendant a bit) adds quite a bit to your arsenal. Modules then add to the customization options... but you aren't done there.

You like set bonuses from MMORPGs? They're here, too. Tack on some extra bonuses. Honestly, it may even all lead to a pretty broken build. The video even shows examples of Descendant Bunny, who we previously showed running around giving off static charges damaging enemies, potentially being built to have her dash charge consume HP instead of MP. Add a ton of modules that add HP and you could, in theory, make this ability endless... maybe.

You're obviously going to have to grind to get there though, that's the point of these types of games. It's also my main concern. If the grind is absurd or not fun (and there's a push to the cash shop to avoid the grind), things could go south for me quickly. However, if The First Descendant nails the balance, I won't mind using the game's library tool to track down exactly the upgrades I need for hours to come.

Check out the video and let me know who your first Descendant will be.
