Ubisoft Announces XDefiant, A New Free-To-Play Tom Clancy Game
Today, Ubisoft hosted a stream to announce the latest game in the Tom Clancy IP, a free-to-play team-based shooter titled XDefiant. The game features 6v6 combat in both arena and linear modes as well as a rotation of maps.
Tom Clancy's XDefiant doesn't just wear the Clancy IP on the label, but also pulls inspiration for the game's classes from several Tom Clancy games. This includes Outcasts and Cleaners from The Division, Ghost Recon's Wolves, and Splinter Cell's Echeleon. These are XDefiant's assault, support, tank, and healer classes, respectively. It seems Ubsoft was going for a kind of "punk rock" feel with the game, so players will find them selves in maps filled with graffiti.
If you missed the stream earlier today, you can check it out below. Also note that a closed beta is scheduled for US and Canadian players on August 5. Players can register to play on PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S via Ubisoft's site.
