XD Games has revealed the eighth season for Torchlight: Infinite. Titled “Sandlord”, the new season will have players building empires in the skies as they develop a Cloud Oasis. The new season introduces economic gameplay to the F2P action RPG, including recruiting workers, optimizing production, and trading resources. Players will be able to recruit workers for five different professions to help them build their city in the sky.

In addition to the new mechanic, the new season will also introduce a new side of Thea, who has traded in her divine gifts for the power of Desecration. This scaling curse intensifies Erosion Damage as her blessings weaken, making Thea into the Blasphemer. The Blasphemer is something fans of damage-over-time builds will want to take a serious look at.

The update, dropping on April 17, will also overhaul Deep Space, adding new high-challenge stages with larger maps. Other changes coming in the update include a new modifier system, the Blending system, and more.

On the same day that the new update drops, XD Games will also kick off the game’s anniversary event, Sands of Fortune. The event will last until May 1, during which time players will want to complete in-game tasks to earn Gold Rush Attempts. These can then be used to win a share of a $250,000 USD prize pool. Details on how to participate can be found on the Torchlight: Infinite site.
