You know Tibia, the classic 2D medieval MMORPG from 1997? It’s still going.

CipSoft recently reported impressive financial results for 2023. Tibia generated a turnover of 24.5 million euros, marking an 11.3% increase from the previous year. The company even saw a net profit rise of 21.8% — that comes out to 14.5 million euros. This success is consistent too, with CipSoft achieving turnovers exceeding 22 million euros for four consecutive years now.

In response to the prosperity, the company is actively expanding its team. CipSoft hired a record number of employees in 2023, with 95 new hires; that brings the current total to 100 employees. And, the company has announced generous bonuses equivalent to 85% of each staff member's annual salary.

Here’s what CipSoft has to say on the matter:

“The bad news that has recently reached us from many friendly development studios makes it difficult to celebrate our excellent figures as we did in previous years. We are lucky to operate Tibia, a live-service game that is backed by a very loyal community, but in which we have also invested in the right places over the past few years. For example, the core team of the game has been expanded by almost a third. This allows us to cope comparatively well with the current challenges in the industry.”
