Tibia released back in 1997 and it's been basically the only MMORPG project CipSoft has worked on since then. For those of you keeping score, that was 27 years ago. Now the team has a new F2P MMO project in the works and they're ready to show it off a bit.

What began as a side project for 2 members of the team has now grown into a full open world project with a team of 14 and access to all the other resources and teams throughout CipSoft.

Persist Online brings many of the lessons Tibia garnered to a zombie-infested, open world MMORPG. Sure, zombies are a threat, but so are other players. Arm yourself with whatever you can find, guns, frying pans, or even fishing nets that can be modified via skills to paralyze enemies.

Can you trust the players you're working with? In short, maybe?

“The true charm of an MMORPG lies in the diverse interaction possibilities among players and the unpredictable stories that emerge from them. Decades of operating Tibia have continually shown us this," said Benjamin Zuckerer, Lead Product Manager.

Persist Online will utilize multiple test phases and an early access launch to allow the game's community to help develop the title. You can wishlist the MMO on Steam right now and can snag additional info from the Persist Online site.
