Tibia Celebrates Its 25th Anniversary By Finally Adding Sound To the Game
There are still events and things, too.
Twenty-five years is a long time for an MMO to stay in action. It’s an even longer time for a game to run without sound. We’re not just talking music here…but sound effects, too. That said, Cipsoft’s Tibia has managed just that, and they’re celebrating the game’s anniversary by finally adding sound effects to the game. It’ll probably be a big change for a lot of players. Then again, you may not care and end up leaving the sound off so you can listen to something else.
Don’t worry. The addition of sound isn’t the only way Cipsoft is celebrating the big day. They’ll also be hosting a Pantibian Festival in which players can collect special tokens in a bid to join the founders of the company in a game session. The founders will spend 45 minutes each in three game worlds – one per region – where players may take on an obstacle course with them. To participate in this, players will need to be among the top 50 players in their region based on how many Theons they have collected. If players don’t quite make that mark, they’ll still have a chance to get in on some fun by playing with select streamers in their region. Of course, playing with the devs is where most people would probably like to be, so everyone will need to work hard to collect those Theons.
