This isn't Even My Final Form: Jagex Announces RuneScape 3
RuneScape is an MMORPG that will seemingly never die. Every time you begin to think the MMO may be on its last leg it rises again, like a Phoenix from the ashes. The latest incarnation of RuneScape changes the aesthetic landscape of the world of Gielinor once again, and this time it moves it more inline with other modern browser based MMOs.
Utilizing a new HTML 5 engine, players who enter RuneScape 3 will see a massive improvement in graphic quality, longer draw distances, new audio, new design features and a world changing content update as the game moves into its 6th age. According to Phil Mansell RunesScape's Executive Producer, "RuneScape 3 is going to run faster, look better and feel so much more immersive".
The update isn't limited to just the looks of the game though. RuneScape’s Creative Director, Mark Ogilvie commented, “RuneScape 3 marks a significant moment in RuneScape’s history as the world enters the 6th Age. All our recent content updates have been building up to this point, massive change is coming, and our players will be able to shape the game with the choices they make. Every single player will have the ability to shape the world.”
More details will be made available in the coming weeks. Until then, you can check out the RuneScape 3 video announcement above.

They actually went and did it. I thought this would have been canceled after the Quartz disaster.
Demand more. Expect more. We drive the market. Free is not an excuse to look and play like a pre-year 2000 mmo.
no there's a reason, that your tiny little brains cannot find.... its simply unique, ever since it began there's nothing like Runescape. Every single RPG until now was the same as the other before, Runescape is the only exception.
The economy and grinding is surely hard, but that just makes it more worthwhile, than a game you can get to the max level in 3 months. The EoC was surely necessary, one of the biggest complaints about Runescape was ALWAYS the combat system, now they did something about it, they created an unique battle system that differs from any other, and all they do is complain, because they can't see how bad it was before.
Everyone says it was better when they were children, and played it years ago, that's because everything looked better when you where a children. Now they are making it actually better, but all they think about is how it was before.
Do you still like the cartoon you watched when you were 5? Watch it again an you'll know its shit now. Runescape isn't like that, they abandoned the past, and moved on.
But haters and mindless gamers who think hunting the same monster for hours in a 3D graphically extravagant non-innovative world is gaming, will surely hate.
