The Path of Exile Team Reflects On The Game's Highlights In 2023
Path of Exile 2 is so close, yet so far away.
What a year for Path of Exile.
As 2023 came to a close, the community and development team reflected on a year filled with exciting milestones and additions to the ARPG game. The year kicked off with the launch of three expansions: Crucible, The Trial of the Ancestors, and Affliction. And there was ExileCon 2023 in New Zealand.
What folks are truly excited for though is Path of Exile 2, which saw numerous teasers throughout the year. There was the Sorceress and Monk shown off, as well as the Druid and Mercenary. Also, if you hadn’t heard already, this new ARPG will be standalone from the original (with separate development cycles).
Path of Exile saw gameplay enhancements and overhauls, with changes to Breach and Abyss mechanics, the introduction of auto-battler elements in Trial of the Ancestors, and additions like Tattoos and Omens. Quality of life improvements included adjustments to Chaos Orb stack sizes, enhancements to trading mechanics, and the temporary return of nostalgic elements in the Blast from the Past event.
There was the Ruthless Solo Self-Found Boss Kill Event too, plus overhauls to Ascendancies like Saboteur, Pathfinder, Chieftain, and Guardian. And let’s not forget the introduction of Voidborne Reliquary Key and Valdo's Puzzle Box.
Finally, the year concluded with the sale of 185,132 Weta Pets — marking a successful year for Path of Exile, according to the team. They expressed gratitude to the community for their continued support, with high hopes for this year.
