The NFL’s Super Bowl Enters Into The ‘Metaverse’ With The Help Of Roblox
“Roblox has enabled us to create interactive shared experiences”
The National Football League (NFL) announced that its first-ever virtual Super Bowl concert will launch during Super Bowl weekend on the popular multiplayer online game, Roblox.
The free concert will be open to Roblox users in Rhythm City on Friday, February 10. There the Saweetie Super Bowl concert will take place; featuring the vocal stylings and family-friendly motion-captured movements of hip-hop artist Saweetie. The concert will then replay 31 times, every hour on the hour, until Super Bowl Sunday.
The Saweetie Super Bowl Concert was developed with metaverse game developer Gamefam, and is sponsored by Intuit. In addition to the virtual concert, the NFL is also launching Super NFL Tycoon on Roblox on Saturday, February 4. This experience will allow Roblox players to live out the fantasy of being an NFL team owner. This immersion goes as far as having the player manage cash flow, payroll, taxes, and customer acquisition with the help of Intuit's products.
Ed Kiang, VP of Video Gaming at the NFL, had this to share, "Working with Roblox has enabled us to create interactive shared experiences and with the virtual concert and Super NFL Tycoon we will unlock deeper fan engagement."
