The Lost Ark Delay Was Partially To Remove Controversial Monetization Item "Yoz’s Jar"
It also gave them more time to wrangle bots.
Recently, Amazon and Smilegate announced they would be delaying the launch of Lost Ark’s next update, the Wrath of the Covetous Legion. In the announcement, they offered a general explanation with a promise to provide more details later on. Now is later on. Today, the developers dropped a post explaining the decision, and while there was definitely more to it, like removing bots and improving queue times, a big reason was Yoz’s Jar.
For those unaware, Yoz’s Jar was a store item intended to be released with the new update. It contained a selection of Epic skins and two Legendary skins for each advanced class in the game. Aside from looking nice, these items also offered 1-2% stat increases. Once players got wind of this they began letting developers know they weren’t pleased. According to the post, the developers “didn’t want players to feel like the skins found in Yoz’s Jar were necessary for gameplay,” so they’ve just removed it.
When the update launches on June 30, it will be accompanied by some celebratory gifts. Two gifts will be rewarded to all players. The first is a growth support pack containing stone fragments, stones, stone crystals, and more. The second will be a Mokoko Skin Selection Chest containing some brightly colored skins.
