Tomorrow, March 4th, The Lord of the Rings Online will be launching 4 new 64-bit servers for the MMORPG's players. Two of these are based in the United States, and two of them are based in Europe. Having previously released two VIP 64-bit servers (Angmar and Morder), these additions bring the total count of 64-bit servers to 6. Obviously, a 64-bit server brings with it a number of improvements and performance upgrades, but if you plan to stay on the 32-bit servers, that's fine. They aren't going anywhere yet. However, unless you have a very particular reason for staying on the 32-bit servers, you should probably transfer now seeing as the process is free for now.

VIP players can actually prep for the migration today. If you have the game's VIP service, you can log into the new 64-bit servers now to get to character creation. While most players probably don't want to start over on the new servers, you can use this access to lock in your names. Simply create a character with the name you desire or the name of one of your current characters on another server. Once server transfers are live tomorrow, you can delete this placeholder character you created, freeing up the name for a brief moment while you transfer your existing character of the same name to the 64-bit server.

At noon eastern tomorrow, March 4th, you can complete the transfer process. The 64-bit worlds will remain closed, so you can't play yet, but you'll be all set. The game worlds will open on March 5th at 1 PM EST. Previously closed worlds will see their characters available for transfer on March 12th.
