The Introduction Of Skimmers In Destiny 2 Has Hysterically Broken Years Of Game Balancing
These new vehicles let players access previously unreachable areas, uncover Easter eggs, and potentially exploit glitches.
Welcome to Tony Hawk’s Destiny Skater.
Destiny 2’s introduction of skimmers, which are basically hoverboards, has caused a major shift in the shooter game's traversal mechanics — effectively disrupting five years of careful balancing. These new vehicles offer players unparalleled freedom of movement, breaking traditional constraints of traversal and encounter design. With skimmers, players can do things that were previously impossible, like grinding in mid-air without losing altitude.
The space skateboards can be obtained through the in-game store or the Guardian Games 2024 event questline, so they are a bit exclusive, but worth the time and effort (or money) since skimmers fundamentally change the way players navigate the world. Besides opening up new avenues for exploration and discovery within Destiny 2, these vehicles enable players to access previously unreachable areas, uncover Easter eggs, and potentially exploit glitches.
