Care for another “This Week At Bungie,” Guardians?
This week, Bungie revealed the return of the Guardian Games and Guardian Games Cup for Destiny 2, as well as the recent Trials community map vote, a preview of upcoming Strand updates, and an announcement of the winner of an exotic ornament in the shooter.
Guardian Games and Guardian Games Cup comes back, with new additions to the event and classics such as the Supremacy PvP mode. The class-based matchmaking system and Medallions currency will be featured this year, along with the return of The Title Void SMG. Taraxippos, the first Strand, will also be introduced. The Guardian Games Cup is open to all players and offers special rewards for top teams, including custom team artwork, Guardian Games pendants, and the Apricot Dawn emblem. The event starts on May 2 and players can register their teams on the Guardian Games Cup page.
As for the Trials map voting event there’s three maps to choose from: Rusted Lands, Convergence, and Disjunction.
On the Strand updates, the team specifically mentioned the Ashes to Assets and Hands On armor mods. These mods can still be used simultaneously, but defeating an enemy with the grapple melee will no longer count as both a grenade and melee kill. Additionally, the team has announced upcoming changes to Strand abilities in Season 21, including a reduced cooldown and minimum time between grapple activations, as well as improvements to the Threaded Spike ability.
And finally, the winner of the community vote for the community artist exotic ornament is Witherhoard with 45% votes. The Thunderlord received 36% of the votes, while Izanagi’s Burden received 19%.
