Is Your MMO Nominated? The Game Awards’ Nominees For 2024 Have Been Announced
Expect some of the usual suspects in the multiplayer categories.
It’s that time of year again. The Game Awards has dropped its list of its 2024 nominees. As you might expect, the bulk of the list consists of a lot of single-player games. However, multiplayer offerings creep into some of the categories and there are those categories that cater specifically to multiplayer games.
Where multiplayer games really shine in this event are categories like “Best Ongoing Game”, “Best Community Support”, and – of course – “Best Multiplayer”. Some of the usual suspects appear in these categories. Final Fantasy XIV appears in both Best Ongoing Game and Best Community Support. (Although I have to say, I’m a little conflicted on the latter category since XIV is up against Baldur’s Gate 3.) Fortnite appears in both these categories, as does Helldivers 2. So, it’s pretty solid competition all the way around.
Best Ongoing Game also has nominations for Destiny 2 and Diablo 4. Best Community Support is rounded out by No Man’s Sky.
As for Best Multiplayer, Helldivers 2 appears there as well. The other nominees are Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, Warhammer 40K: Space Marine 2, Super Mario Party Jamboree, and Tekken 8.
While it’s not multiplayer in a real sense, I’m a bit excited to see Wuthering Waves up for something – even though it’s the mobile category. Now, if they’d just put the game on PlayStation already. A full list of categories and nominees is available on The Game Awards' official site.
