THE GAME AWARDS 2024: World Of Tank Developer Announces New F2P IP: Steel Hunters
The mech hero shooter combines battle royal and extraction mechanics.
Today, during The Game Awards, Wargaming, developer of World of Tanks and World of Warships, announced something a bit different. If you had on your 2024 Bingo card, “Wargaming makes a mech hero shooter”, congratulations, you win.
That’s right. Wargaming’s next free-to-play offering is a new IP, Steel Hunters. Players control mechs known as “Hunters” in battle while attempting to complete different objectives, level up, and earn gear. As with any hero shooter, the mechs all have their own ability kits and playstyle, so players and teams can choose what feels right.
Currently, Steel Hunters is accepting members into a 10-day closed playtest that runs from right now until December 22. If you’d like to sign up, you can do so on the Steel Hunters site. The game can also be wishlisted on Steam.
