The Final Fantasy Patch 6.4 Patch Notes Are Live, With A Few Thing We Didn't Already Know About In Them
They’ve added warnings for escort quests.
Only three more days until the 6.4 Patch drops in Final Fantasy XIV (depending on time zone). This patch wraps up a few things in the MMORPG. We’re finally going to face Golbez and we’re done with Pandaemonium. Of course, that means new gear on the raiding front – crafted, tomestone, and savage rewards. (That crafted gear is pretty nice.) We’re not sure where that leaves us on Tataru’s questline, but we’re definitely getting closer to the end.
Today, Square Enix posted the Preliminary Patch notes for the update, and it has a few things we didn’t already know about.
For one thing, there’s a level 30 side quest for Scholars that will allow them to glamour their faerie. This may also tie into the fact they’re removing the ability to summon Selene. Speaking of quests, the devs have also decided to change the icon for escort quests. Now there’s a little arrow in the corner – warning us that we’re about to be saddled with someone we have to keep an eye on. Yay!
On the new addition front, new items have been added for FATEs, and both of the level 90 treasure hunt maps and dungeons have had their rewards adjusted. We’re not sure if the latter is in our favor or not.
Another fun little surprise is for Free Companies. New Charge symbol options have been added for company crests. The other bit of Free Company love is adjustments to subaquatic voyages. New maps, areas, and items have been added and the submersible rank has been increased.
On the housing front, message books have been updated to include the homeworld of players leaving messages and a special mark will be left on messages left by people in the house owner’s Free company. And then there’s the furniture. As with weapons, this update includes new furnishing items from a previous design contest – specifically 2019. Some of these pieces are pretty nice looking. It might be time to redecorate. Of course, items created by the developers have been added as well.
Island Sanctuary fans can expect a bunch of new stuff. This includes a rank increase, new items to spend cowries on, a new gathering area, new construction plots and facilities, and – of course – new produce and critters. Dust bunnies and their big gems, anyone? Honestly, there’s just a lot happening on the islands.
Of course, there’s the typical list of new additions – hairstyles, mounts, and the like. Hrothgar is getting some romance novel-level long hair. Another bed mount is being added. Anyone who wants that is going to have to deal with Faux Hollows – or pay someone a lot of money for it on the market board… And new emotes have been added.
On the battle and system fronts – there’s a lot. We won’t cover everything, because some of it is already in the last Live Letter post and we also know people are going to skim for changes to their jobs of choice and the like, so here are some highlights.
First, limit breaks have been adjusted so that there’s less variance in their damage. Next up, players will now have the ability to choose to transfer hotbar settings between jobs when picking up a new job. Speaking of jobs, display names now show the icon for a player. You do have the option to turn this off if it feels like too much clutter. Players can also choose to simply have roles indicated by the color of their display name.
As we said, there is more, a lot more, so hit up the patch notes if you want to know everything.
