ESO Lucent Citadel

Starting today, May 23, and running until May 28, the Explorer's Celebration is returning to The Elder Scrolls Online. During this special event, you will be granted bonus rewards for exploring Tamriel.

There will be increased drops from harvest nodes, 100% XP gains from all sources that will stack with scrolls or group multipliers, and 100% gold earned from monster kills, quest rewards, and similar sources. These bonuses are good in all zones of The Elder Scrolls Online.

So that's what's going on now, but let's take a look into the future of the ESO MMORPG.

The Lucent Citadel trial promises a final boss with an encounter the likes of which have never been seen before in The Elder Scrolls Online according to the post on the official site.

“The Lucent Citadel is an ancient Daedric vault located in the wastelands of Fargrave, and until recently the monstrous residents of the citadel have been dormant,” says Senior Content Designer Shane Slama. “Ithelia’s return has triggered their awakening and attracted a number of interested parties in search of something called the Arcane Knot.”

There will be four total bosses in the Lucent Citadel. The devs also teased that at some point being light on your feet won't be enough, as you'll have to ditch your feet entirely and try not to look down.

ESO Gold Road Incursions

In the new zones introduced in Gold Road will also come new Incursions which players will need to band together to overcome.

“With Mirrormoor Incursions, powerful forces from the mysterious realm are attempting to spread their influence across West Weald and infiltrate the land,” explains Encounter Designer Lauren Kaiser. “Three elite Valkynaz have positioned themselves at key points surrounding the crux of the incursion, and together, they work to perform a ritual that paves the way for a powerful Mirrormoor champion.”

Players will need to search the wilderness surrounding the mosaic for Daedric ritualists and shut down their efforts. All manner of creatures from the Daedric world will be invading Tamriel in Gold Road, as the goal is to make the incursions feel like they have more of an impact on the world.

“Because the event takes players on a monster hunt in the wilds, it’s important that they can track progress no matter where they are,” says Kaiser. “To do this, players can look up at the portal above the Mirrormoor mosaic—the number of orbs orbiting the portal corresponds with the number of Valkynaz that have been defeated. There are also additional audio and visual cues that will appear throughout the world event area. Major kudos to the VFX and audio teams for their phenomenal work on these critical elements!”

The Gold Road expansion arrives in The Elder Scrolls Online for PC/Mac on June 3, with Xbox and PlayStation following on June 18.
