The Elder Scrolls Online Has A 10-Year Anniversary Diorama, And You've Got To See This Thing
There's more talent in this one diorama than I've produced in my entire life.
The closest thing to artistic talent I've ever produced is some painted miniatures, and even those are quite mediocre, but this diorama celebrating the MMORPG's 10-year anniversary of The Elder Scrolls Online is insane. It contains a ridiculous level of detail and oozes Elder Scrolls, you can almost hear the main theme playing as you look at it.
“We tried to stick to typical modeling techniques and use popular materials such as Styrofoam, wood, PCV, all kind of sprinkles, woods, and decorations,” explains Dawid “Dexter” Smelczysz, leader of the ArtiDex team. “We also did refer to the most modern technique which is the 3D print. It was a real lifesaver at times!”
“Many of the ready figurines you can see at the diorama came from the great Modiphius team, and we simply glued them together and painted,” explains Dexter and the ArtiDex team. “We also used some existing model trees, except for Elden Root—it was made by us with its trunk printed in 3D and upper branches made entirely by hand using Styrofoam and natural reindeer moss.”
“3D printing was also essential for the White-Gold Tower and Dwarven Ruins, but most of the smaller objects and terrain shape were made by hand. It is also worth highlighting that two of the biggest pieces on the diorama, the Mournhold and Wayrest castles, are entirely made and painted by hand.”
ESO fans will be able to see the 10-year anniversary diorama at in-person events this year. Obviously, this thing took months to plan and build. Initial talks about the diorama began as far back as November 2023. It took approximately six weeks to build the final result once the plans were finalized.
