The Division 2 Team Sees Those Descent Exploiters And The Punishments Are Rolling Out
Suspensions and rollsbacks for all.
One might think that at some point, gamers would look at video game exploits and decide it’s just not worth the eventual punishment when they’re caught. What good does it do you to use an exploit for progression when it’ll just end up being rolled back on you anyway? You’ve literally wasted time and set yourself back. That is…if you don’t get banned from the game altogether.
Today, Ubisoft announced via Twitter that they’ve become aware of such an exploit regarding The Division 2's Descent game mode – that some players have been using a bug in the shooter that allowed them to join a friend already in Descent through the Ubisoft Connect interface and earn XP and SHD levels that they shouldn’t have been able to.
Since discovering the exploit, the developers have identified those who have used it and are rolling out punishments. First-time offenders will be suspended for two weeks and have their accounts flagged, with any further offenses resulting in longer suspensions, and eventually a ban. These players’ progression will also be rolled back, removing all progress earned through the exploit.
In other news, Division 2's Escalation Apparel Event is now live. There are 33 new pieces of gear to collect, including five new outfits and a new uniform. The event will last until July 25, so get to work.
