The Day Before Looks Like It Could Be Changing Its Name Due To Its Trademark Issues
A new Trademark has been filed by Fntastic.
The Day Before developer Mytona Fntastic has filed a new trademark that looks like it could be the new name for The Day Before. The name "The Day Before" is of course stuck in legal limbo at the moment (in a number of ways, some settled and some not) due to a trademark dispute with a calendar app that has the same name.
According to Well-Played, Mytona Fntastic filed for a Trademark for the name "Dayworld" back in August. The trademark filing lists Dayworld as downloadable game software, computer game software downloadable from a global computer network, downloadable computer game software for use on mobile devices, and downloadable video games programs.
The Day Before was maybe not the greatest name ever, but Dayworld is quite a bit lamer. Not to mention Dayworld is a series of books published in the 80s. Well-Played could not find a previous trademark filing for the Dayworld books.
Fntastic has always stated that they prefer to keep the name The Day Before, but with the trademark case currently being suspended in South Korea, and their November 10th launch date looming ever closer, it could be time to cut ties with The Day Before and move on with a new name.
That is of course if they keep their November 10th release date. It wouldn't be the first time this studio did not fulfill a promise.
