The Cycle: Frontier's Beta Test Extended An Extra Week
Full launch now scheduled for 2022.
If you still haven't had a go of it in the beta for The Cycle: Frontier, Yager Development is giving you slackers a little more time to make your fortune or die trying.
The closed beta for the PvPvE shooter has been extended an extra week to November 8, and you can still sign up for access on Steam or the Epic Games Store. You won't be alone, either; Yager shared some numbers from the current closed beta, including:
- 1,928,613 AI opponents defeated
- 72,428 Prospectors killed by AI
- 248,067 Prospectors killed by other Prospectors
- 2,004 Prospectors killed by the planet itself
- 1.7 million hours watched on Twitch, as compared to 1.2 million hours for the original game
The Cycle's redesign has been in the works now for nearly half a year, and with the extra time for the beta, that means that it's not going to make the 2021 launch date Yager originally envisioned -- first early 2021 and then later 2021 -- as the official release window has moved to 2022.
On the bright side, if you paid for something in the earlier version of the game, you'll get a full refund and get to keep (nearly) everything you bought. And once The Cycle: Frontier is fully launched, you'll (theoretically) have a well-tested game as the final result.
