The Cartoon Mayhem Of MultiVersus Preps To Head To Open Beta
The game with maybe the most bizarre roster of playable fighters.
The free-to-play, dizzying fighter game MultiVersus, developed by Player First Games, is going into open beta on July 26. Players will be able to choose from a wide range of characters like Bugs Bunny, Steven Universe, the Iron Giant, Velma, Harley Quinn, Jack the Dog, Finn the Human, and even Game of Thrones' Arya Stark. Yeah, the cast is huge and is only getting bigger as more characters will be joining the roster in future updates and announcements.
While the game already has a crazy cast of characters, the largest of all the characters–the Iron Giant–actually took three times longer to develop than any other fighter in MultiVersus. MultiVersus’s Director Tony Tuynh mentioned, “Iron Giant was designed by Daniel Kraft who also designed Tom and Jerry. Iron Giant took us 3x longer to develop than any other character on the roster, but it opens up some doors for the new characters”. This news probably has many closed alpha testers excited, as Tom and Jerry had a fun and unique style of fighting in the alpha that many players enjoyed, and perhaps the Iron Giant will have his own set of crazy attacks too.
Players who took part in the closed alpha will be able to get early access to the beta from July 19. Others who wish to join will first need to sign up on the MultiVersus website, then watch participating streamers on Twitch for a chance to win an entry key.
MultiVersus will have online modes similar to Smash Bros. Players can enjoy 1v1, team-based 2v2, and a 4-player free-for-all where only the best will survive. Players can expect to see seasonal updates, a battle pass, new characters, and more as the game eventually goes live for all players to enjoy.
