The Arthurian Pantheon Gets Dramatic As Smite 2 Announces Mordred Is The Next God
The Dark Knight is here to shake up the Round Table.
If you know anything about the tales of Camelot, you’ll likely know that a family member of Arthur’s family (nephew or illegitimate son depending on who you ask) was instrumental in the end of an era. Mordred sought the throne and would do anything to do it, and in the end, he fought Arthur in a duel to the death to achieve that goal.
Of course, in Smite 2, the whole death thing doesn’t really matter that much. And as Arthur exists as the head of the Arthurian pantheon, it only makes sense that Mordred would show up in the MOBA at some point. That time is now.
Titan Forge Games announced the upcoming arrival of the Dark Knight-themed character, sharing a blog post detailing the process of his development for the game. With a design based on his legend, Mordred is made to be ruthless and malevolent. He won’t let anything stand in his way. For that reason, his specializations include a strength/intelligence hybrid. He’s a melee god that’s highly mobile, which plays into his legendary status on the battlefield.
It will be a while before we get to see Mordred in action – particularly as he’s being designed for Smite 2, which is still in Alpha. Still, if you’re a fan of the legends of Camelot, he’s an exciting addition.
While we wait for the 24/7 closed alpha to kick off, here's the latest "Top 5" video from SMITE 2 testing.
