TGS 2023: Yoshi-P Provides More Details On Patch 6.5 In PLL 79
You have about a week to get all your pre-patch stuff done.
This morning, at the Tokyo Game Show, Yoshi-P hosted the second half of the Final Fantasy XIV Patch 6.5 Letter from the Producer Live. During the stream, he showed off bits of the new and final Alliance Raid, a new Crystalline Conflict map, the new trial, and more. Of course, there’s a bit on the new MSQ and a new trailer as well. (You can find that embedded below.) Since this PLL took place in Tokyo, there were no live translations. That means we’re using translations from the unofficial Final Fantasy XIV Discord server to write this post. Very nice people doing the gods’ work. A lot of this was covered in the MMORPG's previous PLL as well, so you can find more details in that post.
The Growing Light MSQ has players taking Zero to the First where they’ll meet with Ryne and seek her help in manipulating the light to help with their activities on the Thirteenth. The story will be broken up across the 6.5 and 6.55 patches. The first half arrives on October 3, but players will have to wait until sometime in January for 6.55. Patch 6.51 will follow the first patch pretty closely, dropping sometime in October.
The January patch will also bring the continuation of Tataru’s Grand Endeavor. Several things will be dropping in that later update, all of which are what we’d usually expect in a mid-way patch. These include the Manderville quests and weapons. In excellent news, the Tribal Alliance Quests are back. Players will need to have completed the Arkasodara, Omicron, and Loporrit quest lines to be able to pick this up. And yes, there’s the new Custom Delivery too.
As for the continuation of the Splendorous Tools quests, the next step will be available in Patch 6.51.
Of course, we already know we’ll be getting the new dungeon, trial, and alliance raid in 6.5. Today, Yoshi-P showed us a bit of what those will look like. Of course, he didn’t spoil too much, but we have a small glimpse of the trial fight and mechanics, and what the first section of the alliance raid looks like. PvP is also getting some love and Yoshi-P showed off the new Crystalline Conflict map as well.
As for goodies, there is, of course, new gear to be had from the Alliance Raids. In good news for those of us who have been wondering what to do with our Crystal Trophies from PvP, we finally have some new gear to spend that on as well. It’s fairly casual-looking, so it should make for some good glams.
Then there are several new mounts and minions to be had. We’ll be getting Pupu’s spaceship – I’m assuming from completing the Manderville quests. There’s also a Lunatender mount and a new motorcycle mount. Considering the latter looks a bit like a tractor, we’re guessing that’s an Island Sanctuary thing, as is at least one of the minions.
