TemTem Discontinues Showdown Standalone Client And Isn't Moving Forward With Second Championship Series
The competitive scene has been a disappointment for TemTem.
The TemCS circuit failed to bring in new players according to TemTem developer CREMA, so they are not moving forward with a second championship series. This bit of news comes during the 2023 year-in-review blog post from the developers.
Also not a thing moving forward will be the TemTem: Showdown standalone client. Showdown will still be available in the game's main client, but the standalone client did not perform as well as the devs were hoping, so the competitive gameplay will only be available inside of the main client.
Add TemTem to the long list of games that tried to invest in an esports scene only to see little to no return on that investment.
Overall, they just weren't seeing enough new players brought in through the Championship Series and the Showdown standalone client to justify continuing to push the competitive scene.
