Tactical FPS Dissolution Launches Tomorrow, Offers "Loot Backed By Blockchain"
If there's one thing sci-fi has taught us, it's that if we make intelligent robots, they'll try to exterminate humanity. That appears to be the central conflict of Garage Studios' Dissolution, which describes itself as "tactical FPS combat in a cutthroat universe ravaged by an ongoing war of extinction between humanity and AI."
Set "three centuries after the final war on Earth," Dissolution seems to mix earthbound survival gameplay with combat aboard AI-controlled space stations. That's the plan, at least, as described in the trailer below, questionable subtitles and all. On the game's Steam page, it seems like the earliest of early access titles, with "three playable levels to test our infantry combat mechanics," including two PvE and one PvP mode. Future plans include "an open world MMO-style experience, ship combat, and a much more refined, polished look and feel."
The game's description also offers the promise of "loot backed by blockchain in competitive game modes." Subtitles in the video include fighting "against each other for resources and money" and, in the future, "the option to purchase properties, vehicles, weapons, trade stocks and bonds." Because when the robot apocalypse comes, I'll be mostly concerned about my stock portfolio.
You can get your hands on Dissolution starting tomorrow when it launches into early access on Steam. You can also learn more about the game on its website.
