SWTOR's Valkorion Voice Actor Darin De Paul In The Most Wholesome Interview Ever
OK, Star Wars: The Old Republic fans really need to take a breather for a bit and watch what I can only describe as the most wholesome interview I've seen in quite some time. Today, the SWTOR team released individual interview videos from Friday's 2020 Cantina livestream and this time the interviewee in the hot seat was Darin De Paul. For those that don't know, De Paul is the voice actor behind a number of characters in a multitude of media projects, but in this context he voices Valkorion in SWTOR...and he also voices Daeruun, and Junker Jott...just for good measure.
The interview runs the normal range of topics from De Paul's early days in voice acting all the way to Valkorion cosplay, but it spends a great deal of time just displaying how much of a fanboy De Paul is for all things Star Wars.
Perhaps my favorite part of the interview comes about 10 minutes into the video. De Paul takes a few moments to talk about his audition for the role of Valkorion. He had just come off of 8 hours of beating his voice down making orc noises for the World of Warcraft movie and had almost nothing left in the voice tank. Sitting at home reviewing auditions his agent sent, De Paul came across an audition under a codename so he had no clue that the audition was for SWTOR. After reading the monologue, De Paul just envisioned the gravely voice that would later become Valkorion and decided to do the recorded audition with a voice dying from orc noise making.
The rest of the interview is just as awesome so sit back, grab a drink, and spend 30 minutes smiling and geeking out! Other guests on the Cantina Livestream also got individual videos posted including Kari Wahlgren and Noshir Dalal, both of which are also great views for SWTOR fans.
