SWTOR Livestream Announces "Showdown On Ruhnuk" Patch, Introduces New Planet, Story Content, PvP Revamp
Enter Ruhnuk, a desert planet with rivers and dangers soon.
The Star Wars: The Old Republic livestream today announced the next major game patch for the MMORPG called "Showdown on Ruhnuk," introducing an all-new planet with new story content, PvP revamp, changes to gear progression, and much more, but as of this writing, the release day is still a mystery.
The new planet, Ruhnuk, is an arid world with many river valleys cutting through the desert landscape. Here, players will follow Shae Vizla, Mandalore the Avenger, in their pursuit of the main base of operations of rogue Mandolorian Heta Kol. The story arc will also have players assisting Mandalore's forces in the aftermath of the main story, learning more about their importance and tracking down one of Heta Kol's Field Marshals conducting secret experiments.

For PvP, the matchmaking will feature two queues - 8v8 or 4v4 - to create more balanced matches. The change will offset the ability for win-trading and grant agency to players choosing between Warzones and Arenas. Also, players will be able to join as 8-player groups. Participating in PvP will grant points to a season reward track that runs in conjunction with Galactic Seasons. In addition, there will be a new map called Onderon Palatial Ruins that players can battle on in the 4v4 Arena format.
Gear progression will get a power ceiling and power floor increase. For the former, the increase allows players to obtain stronger gear by playing, such as Supreme Decurion from Conquest and Tionese from Operations being upgradeable to an item rating of 336. The latter provides players with reduced time to catch up and participate in endgame activities, shifting the PvE and PvP item levels and rewards from Legacy of the Sith story missions to 322.
