SWTOR's 7.0.1 Update Will Make Changes To The Featured Content System
And Darth Malgus is misbehaving -- but what else is new?
Star Wars: The Old Republic's first post-expansion patch, 7.0.1, will tidy up some of the messier details of the Legacy of the Sith launch from February, one of which Design Director Chris Schmidt discussed in detail today.
"Featured Content" was planned as a way to highlight certain pieces of content for limited times, thus giving players who needed that content to complete objectives a better chance of finding like-minded players. It hasn't worked out on live servers as well as hoped, so BioWare will be making some changes in 7.0.1, namely:
- All Veteran Flashpoints will not be available at level 15, instead retaining their usual level restrictions.
- All weekly missions for daily and heroics will be available all the time.
- BioWare will take initial steps in addressing the discrepancies in Flashpoint difficulty and length, with each Flashpoint due to be addressed individually over time.
Legacy Operations and weekly Operation Missions will remain in rotation each week, along with story modes in the group finder. Schmidt hopes that these changes will "address many of the friction points" in their vision for the system, which hasn't worked as well on live servers as it did in more limited environments, like the PTS.
Game Director Keith Kanneg had more on 7.0.1 in a forum post from last week, addressing bug fixes, the most notable of which occurs when Darth Malgus pushes or pulls a player character, occasionally into something called a "death volume." That sounds like something a Sith lord would do.
