Sweeping Planetside 2 Changes: Auraxium Gone, Three Continents at Launch
It's not often that a game of Planetside 2's magnitude and ambition undergoes drastic changes at this stage in the beta. And when they do they certainly aren't as public about it. But with SOE's open door policy when it comes to viewing the inner-workings of the ongoing closed beta for Planetside 2, we get a front row seat.
The game has seen sweeping changes to vehicles, weapons, classes, map design, and communication all over the last couple of months. Yesterday a post on the forums by "Smed" the SOE President outlined ever more drastic changes to the game.
The main resourced accrued by players in order to purchase new weapons for themselves and their vehicles was removed. Instead players will now use their certifications which accrue independently and were previously only used to improve or unlock equipment for various classes and vehicles. To compensate for the increased demand for certs, SOE will be increasing the rate at which players generate certs.
Smed also hinted at plans to ensure that all three continents originally planned for launch (Indar, Esamir, and finally Amerish) would be completed in time. More was talked about including base benefits, optimizations and more. Check out our first impressions of Planetside 2 above and read the rest of the post here.
