Suspect Arrested For Murder Of Brazilian Voice Actress For League Of Legends, Overwatch, And Others
Brazilian voice actress Christiane Louise, who lent her talents to the Portuguese versions of several popular video game characters, was found dead last week at the age of 49. Brazilian fan site Legião dos Heróis (Legion of Heroes) reports via paywalled site O Globo that 27-year-old economist Pedro Paulo Gonçalves Vasconcellos da Costa was arrested for her murder earlier today.
Louise voiced characters in multiple top-tier video games, including Sivir from League of Legends, Mercy from Overwatch, Cortana from Halo, Zatanna from Injustice: Gods Among Us, and Bayonetta. A comprehensive list of her voice credits can be found here.
According to the translated article from Legião dos Heróis, da Costa claimed to have acted in self-defense, saying that Louise was "'possessed by the devil' and was under the effects of narcotics, medicine and alcoholic beverages"; the presiding police chief disputes his claims. da Costa is said to have hid the body in western Rio de Janeiro, with the help of his mother and another person, both of whom are still at large.
